A citywide tourism roadmap

On 25 April 2025, the Addis Ababa Culture, Arts and Tourism Bureau commissioned Project Green Consulting to develop a 10-Year Tourism Development Strategy for 2026–2035. The assignment is intended to connect tourism development with the city’s wider economic, cultural and urban priorities.

Research and product development

The commissioned scope begins with a situational analysis of tourism policies, existing strategies and institutions, alongside benchmarking of other cities. It also covers the development and diversification of cultural, historical, natural and urban tourism experiences for leisure and business visitors.

Marketing, services and technology

The strategy scope includes branding and promotion, digital and regional marketing, tourism facilities, accommodation, transport and visitor amenities. Digital platforms and the use of data are considered as part of the city’s tourism development.

Stopover and business tourism

Specific work areas include developing city experiences for transit visitors and supporting meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions tourism.

From strategy to action

The assignment calls for action plans with institutional responsibilities, financing approaches and monitoring frameworks. Sustainability, community participation, cultural heritage and creative industries are included in the scope.
